A few quotes I get reminded of whenever I am involved with the community:
“If you are feeling helpless, help others.” – Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” – Mahatma Ghandi.
I am on the board of directors for Burma Refugee Family Network, so I’m sharing this campaign with you. It is a voting campaign for winning a grant for Burma Refugee Family Network. BRFN assists refugees of all ethnic groups from Burma resettling in the wider San Francisco Bay Area. BRFN provides and advocates for culturally and linguistically appropriate social support services, such as language training, social welfare, education, physical and mental healthcare, employment, housing, and cultural bridging and preservation. BRFN works in collaboration and partnership with other community organizations in order for the refugees from Burma to achieve self-sufficiency and civic engagement in the community.

While you’re voting, perhaps you can also donate whatever amount you can. I have volunteered at this organization for past 4 years and the work that BRFN does for the community is incredible. It produces great programs with very little funding. Imagine what can be possible with a substantial funding like the grant from this giving campaign. Check out BRFN’s website at http://www.brfn.org.
